Summary

 

Reporting to the Manager, Securities Operations, the Senior Associate possesses extensive knowledge of derivative and marketable products, and assists with providing day to day direction to team members for the Securities Operations business unit. The Senior Associate will have considerable co-ordination and liaison between the Investment Management Group, Investment Finance, the fund custodian, various financial counterparties, and the IT Investment Solutions team. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.     Responsible for providing back office support for an extensive in house managed portfolio

2.     Responsible for daily net cash flows for derivatives and prepare cash projection reports

3.     Build and transfer knowledge and understanding of complex derivative strategies

4.     Perform daily reconciliation between SimCorp Dimension and Custodian positions and follow-up on discrepancies

5.     Process corporate action for holdings in the fund as requires

6.     Monitor  all positions to ensure that integrity and accuracy is maintained and to explain movements within strategies

7.     Adding value to Securities Operations and Investment Management by recommending processes and controls that increase efficiency and reduce operational risk

8.     Responsible for ensuring complete daily trade capture for all capital market instruments including fixed income, equities and both exchange traded and OTC financial derivative transactions.  This involves processing such transactions into the back office system; ensuring timely and accurate  settlements with fund custodian and counterparties

9.     Assist the Securities Accounting Team with  ensuring discrepancies are reconciled between trade capture system/accounting system, reporting system, and custodian

10.  Work collaboratively with other groups in the Investment Finance Division and IT Investment solutions team with issues resolution and new initiatives

11.  Coach and mentor  junior staff members by  providing guidance and back up for critical daily activities

12.  Act as back up to the Manager when needed

Qualifications and Skills

To effectively perform the required responsibilities, the Senior Associate should possess the following skills:

 

·         Minimum of 5  years experience in financial sector in capital markets

·         University degree in Business or related discipline

·         Completion or enrolment in a professional designation program (CFA,CMA, CGA).

·         Strong knowledge of capital market instruments including fixed income and equities

·         Strong knowledge of derivative instruments such as swaps, FX forwards, options and futures

·         Strong analytical skills and results oriented.

·         Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness is very important along with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently

·         Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.

·         Knowledge of investment accounting standards & principles

·         Relevant computer literacy is mandatory

·         Must be able to work independently with minimal direction as well as part of a team

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Identify and implement process improvements where necessary
